Nonprofit organizations recognize that their effectiveness and ability to meet their mission is dependent upon the quality of their staff. They cannot rely on finding qualified people who are willing to work for less than market rate salaries. This session will discuss steps to negotiate during the job offer and how to advocate for a promotion or raise. 

Valerie Arendt

As the Associate Executive Director of the National Association of Social Workers North Carolina Chapter, Valerie offers a unique combination of creativity and leadership as she provides professional and career support to over 5,000 social workers in North Carolina. Valerie manages all communication for the association as she endeavors to advocate for and promote the profession of social work. She is the current career columnist for the national New Social Worker Magazine and strives to help new professionals successfully transition into their social work and nonprofit careers.

We will provide drinks and light refreshements.

Each quarter we will host a professional development event that hits each one of these competencies. This month’s event will focus on Effective Communication: Furthering Your Career.
