Board Chair Position Description

Below is a description of the responsibilities of the Chair on the board of directors for YNPN Triangle NC. 

Responsible to:

Board of Directors and the Alumni Advisory Board

Responsibilities:

The Board Chair is a member of the Executive Committee supports the YNPN Triangle NC strategic plan by providing leadership in the area of charting the strategic direction to the Board, serving as the external ambassador of the organization, and stewarding board culture. 

The Board Chair will:

  • Facilitate monthly meetings of the Board of Directors, generating agendas at least one week in advance
  • Sit on the Executive Committee, attending monthly committee meetings, managing and supporting assignments/rotation of monthly board meeting facilitators
  • Meet regularly with the Vice Chair to discuss strategic direction and the work of the board
  • Be responsible for the high-level direction and implementation of YNPN’s Strategic Plan, assigning duties as appropriate and adjusting the plan as necessary to meet the current needs of the organization
  • In coordination with the Treasurer, advise the board on fiduciary responsibilities, approve final operating budget and major purchases, and serve as signatory on YNPN Bank Account
  • In coordination with the Fundraising Chair and the Treasurer, ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization by reviewing the cash flow and advising the fundraising plan
  • Support the organization through the annual Board Give/Get Campaign via a personal contribution or Peer-to-Peer fundraiser at $100 or more
  • In coordination with the Governance Chair, manage the evaluation process for Board members and mediates conflicts between board members and/or committee members
  • Seek out new opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations through active networking and relationship building, and by representing YNPN Triangle NC at external events
