The Marketing & Communications Chair leads all communications work of YNPN Triangle NC with a particular emphasis on digital media. The Chair oversees and leads efforts to provide quality and consistent communication that promotes YNPN Triangle NC programming, including the annual #NonprofitSTRONG Summit. The Communications Chair also oversees and helps to create original content, including monthly newsletter and weekly social media posts, in order to build awareness of our work and create better access to YNPN. The Marketing & Communications Chair:

  • Develops and executes an external communications plan
  • Promotes YNPN Triangle NC events, members, and other relevant information through various online communications channels, including but not limited to the website, blog, social media, and monthly newsletter
  • Creates deliverables in conjunction with other committees to build YNPN Triangle NC’s brand and increase organizational awareness
  • Develops and executes a communications plan for the annual #NonprofitSTRONG Summit, including communications responsibilities on the day of the event
  • Supports the fiscal sustainability of YNPN Triangle NC by engaging in any necessary budgeting processes
  • Assists with organizational fundraising efforts through online and offline communication channels
  • Recruits members for the communications committee and provides committee members with needed support, feedback, and guidance
  • Adheres to YNPN Triangle NC brand standards, ensuring compliance and establishing a periodic review of documents in order to ensure relevance to current communication methods, modes, and norms
  • Oversees relationships with relevant Triangle-area and sector media outlets, including the maintenance of comprehensive press lists
  • Manages strategic media engagement to advance the brand, mission, and public awareness, including advising outreach to media outlets across the organization
  • Manages YNPN Triangle NC swag and print materials such as flyers and business cards as needed
  • Maintains the website, keeping content fresh, accurate, and relevant and updating as necessary


  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Excellent copy editor and proof-reader
  • Effective writer with the ability to write both long-form content and short-hand content such as posts on social media
  • Experience updating web content (experience with NationBuilder a plus)
  • Ability to self-start and meet deadlines independently
  • Creativity and ability to execute new communication strategies
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Experience with web design, content curation, social media preferred

Time Commitment
15 - 20 hours per month for two years
